About the Author: ABOUT THE AUTHOR Andrea Jarvis, affectionately known as "Miss" Andrea, is a contemporary woman with an inherent sense of fashion. She has been a hat aficionado for over thirty years. Her passion for hats began as a child and she is rarely seen without one. Her collection of approximately three hundred hats have been decorated in a unique style that is exclusively her own. She is an accomplished pianist, former music teacher, copyrighted song writer and national rock and classical performance artist. The art, music and fashion scene is where she is most comfortable and able to showcase her exceptional skills. Her extraordinary flair for dressing was gleaned from being raised in the social circles of her hometown of Washington D.C. Further influences came from the years she spent in the 'Tinsel Town' environment where she worked with and became friends with some of the famous and glamorous stars of Hollywood's past. She attributes much of her fashion influence and guidance from her friendship with the late actress Mae West. Aside from her fine arts involvement, she retired from the University of South Florida where she was the staff senate president. During this time she gained statewide attention for her political and social projects where she has been documented with over fifty television and newspaper interviews. Her outstanding sea shell identification kiosks that she created are displayed at several state parks and beaches in Florida and are viewed by millions of visitors each year. In her youth, she was also the recipient of over 50 Virginia state and national Earth science awards for her work in Crustacean Paleontology. "Miss" Andrea's infatuation with hats is just another intriguing aspect of her outgoing and exuberant personality.
