Practical Guide to Research Project Reporting

The purpose of this book is to reduce undergraduate and postgraduate students frustrations in knowing what to write in their research project proposals and reports. In addition, as the number of students under supervision by a given supervisor keeps on increasing from year to year, and the time to do this becomes limited, this booklet would assist in reducing the burden on supervisors where students want guidance provided for them from the horses mouth. It is becoming increasingly difficult to provide the same piece of information to several research project students repeatedly. With this booklet, supervisors should now be free to concentrate their supervisory efforts on substantive issues in students research.
This booklet is an attempt to document and provide to all students in Education and other social sciences, the authors rich research knowledge and experiences as a research project supervisor at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He was a former Departmental Research Project Coordinator, Postgraduate Programme Coordinator, a Lecturer of "Introduction to Research Methods in Education" and "Ph.D. Thesis Proposal Seminar," Faculty of Education Representative on the Board of the Postgraduate School, Head of Department, Pioneer Director, Centre for Research, Development and In-House Training, Dean, Postgraduate School and Pioneer Faculty of Education Research Manager.
In this booklet, I combined the treatment of format, conceptual and practical issues pertaining to each chapter of a research project or thesis in education. This is to clarify for student researchers what each chapter should contain. I assumed that a typical empirical research project report in education contains about five chapters. I therefore described the contents of each chapter in a manner that will make it possible for students to start their projects with minimal reliance on the supervisors, the moment they have chosen a research topic with the guidance of their supervisors. In addition, I describe the supplementary, but equally important parts of a research project report, namely, references or bibliography and appendices. I paid a special attention to the writing, and therefore, typing instructions that will make any Department in a Faculty or College of Education accept the research project or thesis report.
I strongly recommend this book to all regular and part-time student researchers in Universities and Colleges of Education who have interest in knowing how to write successfully their research project or thesis reports.
