About the Book

What does it actually mean to be a man? In the winter of 2004, with a searing midlife crisis bearing down on him, Robert Revel found himself confronted with this one simple question. Astonishingly, at 39 years of age, he had no real answer . . .To find the answer, the author takes us on a bold journey of discovery that much of our culture has been blind to. He reveals a comprehensive history of masculine de-evolution, detailing how we as men became more and more separated from our own core truth over the centuries, and how we are kept apart from it today. A true modern visionary, Revel unleashes a written revolution that testifies to the authentic beauty, virility and purpose missing in contemporary men's lives, and Razing Men becomes a blueprint for that redemption. Stunningly intelligent, accessible, and direct, this book is like no other book on men you have ever opened. This groundbreaking work is not just one more spin on the masculine movement of the last 30 years . . . it is a brick through the window of typical male doctrine. Here, finally, is a sweeping and vital new vision of masculine embodiment that deeply heals and transforms the culture of men, and by extension, all of humanity. Whether you are a mature man who senses a disturbing emptiness inside, a young man who is disaffected by an uninspiring culture, or a woman who seems to let the "wrong men" into her life, Razing Men has something profound to say to you. When a building gets razed, it's not just being demolished. There is a vision attached for a new and improved structure to replace it. So it is with Razing Men.
About the Author: About the Author Author, teacher, visionary and founder of GO Divorce Clinic, Robert Revel has been a passionate life student of the art of moving awareness through the instrument of the human body. That journey began in earnest for Robert at the age of 16 when he began a serendipitous 12-year apprenticeship with Alice Simms, a consciousness teacher 60 years his senior. Alice exposed him to the works and spiritual teachings of some of the world s most luminous minds from Rumi to Paramahansa Yogananda. After studying film production in college and a brief stint in the commercial film industry, Robert became a trainer with Dr. Marshall Rosenberg s Center for Nonviolent Communication in 2001. He began a journey teaching the art of transforming violence everywhere he could: in prisons, schools, intentional communities, homeless shelters and with spiritual groups. Following this, he began a period of extensive travel, searching and studying with consciousness teachers from diverse cultures around the world. Returning home, he began integrating a personal study of systems theory, quantum awareness fields and organizational dynamics. This enrichment enabled him to expand his reach to corporate administrators, athletic teams, juvenile offender programs, and through the court system, divorcing families a demographic he focuses on today. He holds a Mediation Certificate from John F. Kennedy University and a Paralegal Certificate from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and he is a Certified Practitioner of the dimensionally healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu. A prolifically creative man, Robert has written and directed six independent films; published poetry, feature length screenplays, magazine articles and newspaper columns; and composes music as a hobby. He designed and built his own rammed-earth, off-the-grid home in the Rocky Mountains, where he lived a self-sustaining lifestyle for eight years. Recently, he founded the innovative GO Divorce Clinic in Sonoma County, California, which focuses on a humanized, attorney-free divorce model he envisioned, a divorce process that makes what is a typically an overwhelming experience affordable and accessible to many. He lives in the beautiful wine country town of Healdsburg with his dog, Sneffles. For more information on Robert Revel or to contact the author, you may visit www.razingmen.com
