Elisa Klapheck sucht nach den politischen Implikationen der judischen Theologie. Im Zentrum des Politischen steht das gewandelte Verhaltnis des Menschen zu Gott. Die ersten Geschichten der Bibel prasentieren Gott noch als Despoten, der eine unbeschrankte Theokratie verlangt, wahrend er sich spater als politischer Partner des Menschen selbst an Rechtsnormen bindet. Bereits im ersten Bund mit Noah ist eine Garantie des kunftigen Willkurverzichts Gottes gegenuber seinen Geschopfen zu erkennen. Dann wiederum beschreibt die Tora die Entstehung von Rechtsverhaltnissen zwischen den Menschen. Die judische Version der polis ist dabei der kahal, dessen Ausweitung uber die einzelne Gemeinde hinaus – anders als in der griechisch-romischen Tradition – nicht zu einer vereinheitlichenden Staatsbildung fuhrt, sondern zur dezentralen politischen Wirklichkeit der Diaspora. In die wechselhafte gesellschaftliche Realitat muss Gott immer wieder neu integriert werden. Die talmudische Tradition fordert die tatige Selbstkorrektur des Menschen und fuhrt nicht zu einer Relativierung des gottlichen Rechts, sondern zur Bestatigung der Tora als gesetzlicher Maßstab. Kennzeichnend fur die religios-sakulare Spannung des (rabbinischen) Judentums wird der produktive Konflikt mit Gott, der die judische Tradition zu einer Theologie der sakularen Gesellschaft weiterentwickelt. Klaphecks facettenreiche Interpretationen zeigen den Reichtum dieses Traditionsbestandes, werfen Schlaglichter auf politisch-theologische Positionen aktueller Debatten. Zu Fragen nach Ausgestaltung des egalitaren Rechtsstaats, im Blick auf die Stadt als Paradigma des Politischen, zu Diskussionen um die Bundesstaatlichkeit der EU liefert die judische politische Theologie erstaunliche Anstoße. Die Diaspora avanciert zum Vorbild einer pluralistischen Globalisierung und sogar die prinzipielle Begrundung von Frauen- und Minderheitenrechten kann aus dem Ideenreservoir des Judentums begrundet werden.
