Bernd Häber

Bernd HäberBernd, grandson of Fritz, was born in East Berlin - after the Berlin Wall was erected. He grew up in the German Democratic Republic under a Communist ruling government. Bernd attended the Technische Universität in Chemnitz in Saxony/Germany and graduted with a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Process Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing. Very early on in his life, he started getting interested in German history, music, and modern information technology. When the Berlin Wall, separating East and West Berlin, fell on November 9 in 1989, his world radically changed - an event that let him embark on a personal journey to eventually move to Phoenix in Arizona where he lives today.Bernd's move to the United States connects him with Fritz who served many months in an American POW camp in 1945-1946 after WWII ended. The - what could be called: The Häber Family Trilogy - link between him and his grandfather is Bernd's father Herbert Häber who had climbed up in the hierarchy of the East German Communist Party, the SED, and later became a member of the Politburo in 1984, the political body composed of the highest officials of the party, state, and security organs. In 1985, Herbert was expelled from the Politburo because of a staged high-power plot against him. After German reunification in 1990, Herbert was indicted and prosecuted for being allegedly responsible, as a Politburo member, for some of the killings at the Berlin Wall. He had to face two related criminal trials at the District Court of Berlin between 1995 and 2004.Bernd is the author of several books, such as "Letters To and From My Senators FLAKE and MCCAIN: How they might have failed to fulfill their constitutional obligation", "Tempest - 20th Anniversary", and "The Wondrous Story of Hugo and Matilda".Bernd co-led the Spanish Civil War history project together with Björn Krondorfer - Director, Martin-Springer Institute at the Northern Arizona University called "Stories from the Spanish Civil War" which includes Bernd's great uncle (and brother-in-law of Fritz) and other International Brigades volunteers from the United States, the UK and Canada.Bernd currently works on his father's life story & history under the working title "Koalition der Vernunft" (Coalition of Sanity).Bernd is the founder of Worldstrings Promotion - a music agency with a mission to Keep bringing People together through the Power of Music.
