Charles LambCharles Lamb was an English writer, poet, and antiquarian who lived from 10 February 1775 to 27 December 1834. The children's book Tales from Shakespeare, which he co-wrote with his sister Mary Lamb, and his Essays of Elia are among his best-known woks. Authors including Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Robert Southey, William Wordsworth, and William Hazlitt were acquainted with Lamb. Charles Lamb, who had an older brother and sister but no younger siblings, was the son of John Lamb (c. 1725–1799) and Elizabeth (died 1796), née Field.
