Daniel M MokayaBorn in 1950, Daniel Momanyi Mokaya was the second-born child of Mokeira bw'Omote and Mokaya bw'Ong'ayo (both deceased) of Nyankoba Sub-Location in Kitutu Masasa in present-day Nyamira County.Daniel went through Biticha Primary School, Nyambaria HighSchool, and Kisii Teachers' Training College. Later, he studied at Jersey City State College and St. Peter's College both in New Jersey, USA. From Jersey City State College he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education while he earned a Diploma in Real Estate from St. Peter's College.Daniel married Anne Nyanchong'i and the couple was blessed with five children: Otwoma and Emmanuel Nyabuti (both deceased), Susan Bosibori, Dorcas Kemunto and Nyangwechi. The author, while employed by the Teachers Service Commission, taught both in primary and secondary schools. At the secondary school level, he rose to the rank of the school principal. He was also an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church and served in the church committee for a long time.Momanyi was a crusader against female circumcision, which is well exemplified by writing this book.He also spent time working in the non-governmental sector with a number of organizations. He was the Education Coordinator for Adventist Relief Agency (ADRA) in Somalia, Education Expert for Intersos, and Education Coordinator for CARE International in Somalia, among other countries.In 2005 Momanyi was bestowed with the Head of State Commendation (Civilian Division) by His Excellency the President of Kenya, Hon. Mwai Kibaki. Momanyi ventured into politics in 2007 when he vied for the position of member of parliament (MP) for the Kitutu Masaba constituency.
