He served as executive director of the Committee for the Advancement of Stem Cell Research (2002-2006), a political action committee which advocated for political candidaes and policies that supported embryonic stem cell research. From 2006 through 2008, he served as an advisor to the 527 organization StemPAC.The author also served as an Associate Director (2006-2010) for the think tank Institute for Progressive Christianity (IPC).
