The descendent ofslaves, he overcame a heritage which could have inhibited his success. Instead, it motivated both educational and professinalachievements, while fostering a deep relationship with the Lord. He holds a bachelor's in public administration from Auburn University (Auburn, Alabama), a master's in community counseling fromTroy University (Dothan, Alabama), and a doctorate in public administration from Nova Southeastern University (Davie, Florida). Healso graduated from the prestigious Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma (Norman, Oklahoma), anexecutive development certificate program. Frederick's professional career began as a research associate at the Center for Governmental Services at Auburn University. He thenworked in community and economic development and planning for the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and DevelopmentCommission. He was notably the first African American resident of Alabama to become a Certified Economic Developer.
