Genie Ann ChowGenie Chow began her journey creating art with a major in fine art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She had an attachment to nature and making art from a young age. At the Art Institute of Boston and the Massachusetts College of Art, she studid illustration, fine art and filmmaking, eventually receiving her B.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. She painted portraits, and attended the University of California-Berkeley Extension program, and the Write-by-the-Lake writing workshops in Madison, where she learned how to write and illustrate children's books.
