Heawon HakeHeawon Hake, LCSW-R, ASAC, has served as a director at Center for Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling in Suffolk County, New York, since 2000. She provides direct care to clients while supervising other psychotherapists. She also makes time t conduct business coaching, and she sat on the board for the Eating Disorder Council of Long Island.Heawon has expertise working with abused children and their families, providing residential and community-based therapies, and addressing substance misuse disorders. As a novice grant writer, she created an integrated community approach to working with individuals and families affected by substance abuse-a grant that yielded a quarter of a million dollars from New York State. Later, Heawon created and led a nonprofit organization that partnered young adults with mentors in Suffolk County, New York, to offer locals the high level of programs and services offered in New York City and Long Island. Heawon graduated from Yonsei University in South Korea before moving to the United States in 1986 to start graduate school. After earning her master's in social work at Adelphi University, she trained at Gestalt Center of Long Island. Always learning, she later attended Pace School for Alcohol and Drug Counseling and studied acupuncture at Lincoln Hospital.Heawon applies eclectic philosophies and practices in her work and personal life.
