Janet Marie Mandrona LeMondAbout the Author: Janet M. Lemond graduated valedictorian from Stratford High School in Stratford, CT (1974) and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT with a degree in Biology (1978). Ms. Lemond has spent most of hr life in the safety and health profession. In 1991, she gained professional certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. She was employed both in the private sector and in the government as a safety professional. Ms. Lemond worked for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While at OSHA, she assisted after the 911 attacks on the World Trade Center by performing airborne monitoring for hazardous chemicals on the construction workers and the New York City police and fire departments. While with the EPA, Ms. Lemond's final employment was in Washington, DC. There she assisted in setting up safety and health programs for the EPA throughout the United States and attained the highest General Services grade. Ms. Lemond is currently retired and has spent her time sailing on Long Island Sound, writing books, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut River Valley American Industrial Hygiene Association.
