Jonathan Jay BeldingJay Belding grew up with five siblings in Northern New Jersey in a bedroom community of New York City.He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts and Technology in 1972, and a Master's in Special Education in 1973-both from Trenton Stte College; now the College of New Jersey.Jay was a special education teacher focusing on vocational training with the Bucks County Public Schools in Pennsylvania from 1973 to 1977. During his tenure he was a classroom teacher; a supervisor for eight classrooms; directed a job placement program; and he wrote, developed, and implemented an innovative vocation education curriculum for special education students.He cofounded Jon-Jay builders in 1979, a residential construction company. After five projects he sold his interest to his partner in 1979.In 1977, along with his wife, he founded, and to this day is the Executive Director of Associated Production Services Incorporated (www.apspackage.com), a 501 C-3, not for profit, state of Pennsylvania certified vocational training facility. APS operates six workshop centers serving 500 developmentally disabled adults with a staff of 105. The training and work engaged in is via packaging contracts awarded by companies primarily in the confectionary and food business. Some assembly and packaging of consumer goods is also performed. APS is registered with the FDA and SQF regulatory bodies.He co-founded, and was a partner, in Magna-Board, Inc. This company manufactured and purveyed magnetic, decorative framed boards to the gift and stationary trade. He sold interest to his partner in 1983.Jay founded and owned Regency Candle Company in 1980, which produced and sold a complete line of gift store quality candles through a national team of manufacturers' representatives. There was also a container-filling division and wholesale division in the company. The product line expanded to include decorative iron accessories as well as silk and plastic rings and wreaths. Regency was sold in 1986.Country Kitchen Cookies Inc. was acquired in 1981 through a barter-based marketing agreement with the owner. The company was sold in 1985.Jay became a partner and Director of Operations of the New York Style Bagel Chip Company Inc., in 1984. The Business was sold to Nabisco in 1992.He founded and owned Premium Pet Company Inc., in 1982, which trademarked and manufactured two primary items-Disposa Scoop and Disposa Tray for cat litter removal. This business was acquired in 1990.In 2010, Jay designed and trademarked Ergo Bagstand(R), a user-friendly large trash bag holder for commercial/industrial applications. This business is a going concern to this day.In 2013, he founded a product line of bag sealing devices. Under the names Bag Tie(R) and Bag Tite(R) these durable, reusable bag closures keep food fresh. The concept is that of a "tin tie," such as the closure on a bag of Starbucks coffee.
