Katie L DarganKatie L. Dargan was born to a large family of one brother and six sisters, and her mother always told her that she had a special quality about herself. Even as a child, Katie was more concerned about spiritual things than the usual childhood things lke dolls and toys. She was always curious about what made things work and had a burning desire to learn. In those days, there were no early pre-kindergarten schools, so she taught herself her ABCs and learned to read by listening to her siblings read. Katie had a presence with her that taught her many things, such as how to take apart irons, radios, and all sorts of electrical things and fix them. She became known as the "fix it girl," and people would say, "Give it to Katie, she'll fix it."
