Mark OgleBorn in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Mark Ogle graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in 1986 and the Naval War College in 2007. During his career, he traveled to seventy-six different countries and sailed with the Second Fleet, training numerous avy boarding teams in route to Desert Storm. He also led the White House-ordered armed landing party amidst gunfire to rescue seventy-seven barricaded tourist on the island of St. Croix.Throughout his command tours and as a boarding officer, he made over sixty narcotics seizures that included the first drug-laden semi-submersible, the first liquid cocaine load and-at the time-the largest maritime bust in history. His San Diego-based unit seized over 130 tons of cocaine worth $3.2 Billion in three years. Eleven of his twenty-seven active-duty years were in command. He retired as a Coast Guard captain and the chief of Future Operations for the Atlantic Area, where he was responsible for planning, managing resources and providing oversight of all US Coast Guard operational missions which span from the Rocky Mountains east to the India/Pakistan border. Following his retirement from active duty in May 2013, he continues to support the Coast Guard as a civilian training specialist and course administrator for the Sector Commander, Sector Department Head, and International Maritime Operations Courses.
