Oles SmolanskyBorn in 1930 in Soviet Ukraine, Oles Smolansky completed his secondary education in post-World War II Germany. In 1950, he emigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen of his new homeland five years later (1955). Continuing his stuies, he received his A.B. from New York University (1953) and his A.M. (1955) and his Ph.D (1959) from Columbia University. He taught at UCLA (1960-1962) and lectured at the University of Pennsylvania (1970-71) but spent most of his professional career teaching international relations at Lehigh University (1963-2004) and retired with the title of Distinguished University Professor of International Relations Emeritus.
