Stéphane Van DammeProfessor of Early Modern History at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, Stéphane Van Damme has worked on the origins of early modern scientific knowledge and European Culture between 1650 and 1850 by looking at essential elements such as scientifc centres (Lyons, Paris, London, Edinburgh, New York), founding fathers (Descartes, Linneaus), paradigmatic disciplines (philosophy, natural history, archaeology) and imperial projects.
