Later, in London, where he spent his final years, he was connected to a publishing business. He published more than 150 novels under various pen names, including "Charlotte May Kingsley," some of which he co-wrote with his wife Mary E. Hanshew. The consulting detective "Hamilton Cleek'' (the assumed name of the King of Maurevania), a former thief who now works for law enforcement, was Hanshew's most well-known character.
