Zerric ClintonZerric Clinton is an artist educator who resides in Metro Atlanta. He has taught art education at the secondary level for over 20 years. Dr. Clinton received both a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership fromValdosta State University, and a doctorate degree in Art Education from Florida State University. He is from Hazlehurst, Georgia.Zerric's career as an artist educator has put him in a space to understand the way popular culture influences adolescents. His work in this area started over 10 years ago with his dissertation entitled What African American Male Adolescents Say About Music Videos with Implications for Art Education.Zerric Clinton has served as President of the Georgia Art Education Association and is a member of the National Art Education Association's School for Arts Leaders network. Over the past 27 years he has received several awards. His awards include 2015 GAEA Secondary Art Educator of the Year, 2004 and 2012 Most Influential Teacher of an Honor Student, Cairo High School, and he was elected the 2017 President of the Georgia Art Education Association. He was inducted into the National Art Education Association School for Arts Leaders class of 2021. His research interests focus on the way that visual culture influences adolescents. Zerric has presented at state and national art education conferences focusing on topics associated with diversity, visual culture, and popular culture. Zerric's art classes participated in The Breaking BAD Collaborative Project launched by the Museum of Tolerance New York to foster dialogue among members of widely dissimilar communities. In this project Orthodox day school students in Livingston, New York and public-school students in Cairo, Georgia, swapped perspectives on prejudice and diversity. Zerric is a lifelong artist educator who enjoys teaching art and creating abstract works of art based on social issues, personal experiences, and inspiration from various forms of music.
