The purpose of this book is to develop a healthy exploration of the means and delivery of substance abuse treatment from the point in time when an individual is referred until treatment plan objectives are accomplished. The primary focus will be the structure that provides the services versus the actual treatment methodology. Culture helps to create and recreate the reason for organizational existence; these values and beliefs tend to drive the end product of the facility. Interestingly enough, the client is both the means and the ends, defining the organizational mission, and the primary reason for its existence.
About the Author: George Bair Ed D Doctor George Bair completed a Master of Arts degree emphasis in Psychology in 1976, and a Master of Arts degree emphasis in Educational Psychology in 1977 at Governors State University, a Doctor of Education degree emphasis in Educational Administration and Instruction in 1993 at Nova Southeastern University, completed a Doctor of Psychology Degree (except for dissertation) at Northcentral University, and a Masters in Science in Forensic Psychology emphasis in Mental Health in the Legal environment at Walden University. Doctor Bair has more than 15 years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment. Doctor Bair has worked in both residential and outpatient environments providing individual and group counseling and delivery of substance abuse related educational seminars. Doctor Bair has developed and implemented more than 100 research-based substance abuse related instructional programs, this course work included emphasis in Ethics, Marijuana, Opiates, Stimulants, Fetal Syndromes, Designer Drugs, Criminal Behavior, Driving While Intoxicated, Self-Defeating Behaviors, Treatment Planning Guides, Spirituality, and Critical Thinking. He can be found most weekends reading, writing or enjoying an exotic meal with his longtime friend and partner Fabio Tagliasacchi. Fabio Tagliasacchi MBA Fabio was born in Mendoza Argentina to Italian parents in 1954. In 1957 the family immigrated to the US and eventually Fabio moved to Naples, Florida in 1984. He received his degree in Mathematics from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and his Master (MBA) from Hodges University. Professor Tagliasacchi now retired taught mathematics at Hodges university, served as the Director of developmental education, Founder and Co-Chair of the Diversity committee and University Retention Coordinator during his 14 years in education. Fabio contracted polio in 1955 in both legs while living in Argentina and is currently confined to a wheelchair. Professor Tagliasacchi enjoys sports, movies, and gardening. He can be found most weekends cooking for his friends, working in his garden or pushing his wheelchair down the road pursuing a faster 5k time.
