Start today, because nobody cares more about your family and future than you do.
About the Author: When Alice was six years old, living in the fruit hills of northern Indiana, her father died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Fortunately, he had taken the time to buy life insurance and as a result, her mother was able to forge ahead with the family business, and take her time making important financial and life decisions for Alice and her two brothers and sister. That was a blessing, because four years later her oldest brother died when he was a senior in high school. Fortunately, the emotional pain and loss of these relationships was NOT compounded by money problems. Although these events & others were root causes that led to her divorce and therapy in her later years, she had the comfort and assurance that can only come from knowing her basic financial needs were secure. These experiences, plus a love of learning, gave her the desire to help teachers take positive steps to live better today and build a rewarding retirement. If she could help them build wealth and protect what they already have, plus give them the peace of mind to focus on their calling, then she'd feel that she was making something good out of her past life experiences. Her faith plays a major role in her life as well, and she's also active in Rotary and Al-anon. She's married, and her blended family includes five adult children and several grandchildren. They live on a lake in central Indiana, where Alice enjoys boating and reading in her spare time. She has worked in the financial services industry since 1988, and has been a Certified Financial Planner Practitioner since 1998. This designation requires her to maintain at least 30 hours of continuing education every two years, plus meet ethical standards. Alice opened the doors of her fee-only practice several years ago, dropping her sales licenses. She provided hourly, as needed financial planning and advice for a fee, and people began calling her: much like the movie Field of Dreams-"Build it and they will come." She realized she was just tapping the tip of the iceberg with people who needed objective advice from an experienced professional, but didn't meet the money management minimums of the typical wealth management firms, or didn't want to pay the fees. They simply wanted professional guidance without being "sold," and that understanding led her to bring these resources to teachers in the convenience of their homes through the internet.
