About the Book

Throughout my career as a manager, executive, and college professor, I have witnessed the rise and fall of many brands. I have seen many brands survive crises while others collapsed in their infancy stage. I have managed brands that created long-lasting values and others that caused companies to file for bankruptcy. "Why some brands can save companies and others destroy them?" was the perpetual question. Heroes are saviors, and brands that survive crises, save companies and lead to prosperities are worth the "Hero Brands" designation. Companies spend years building brand equity. It takes time to develop a unified culture that becomes your brand. Over my extensive experience with franchising and the Food and Beverage (F&B) industry, I noticed similarities between those brands that excelled and those that struggled. I studied those differences to see if there were common themes that could be used as a guide by business personnel. The result was the identification of nine common traits that distinguish Hero Brands.This book was written for anyone interested in growing his or her brand, how to identify brands worth investing in, and ones worth keeping, in addition to which brands to discard from their portfolio. About the Author: Hesham Almekkawi is an International Business Consultant and Food and Beverage industry expert with more than 25 years' experience in managing global and international chains of restaurants in the USA and the Middle East. He is the founder and president of AHRAMIZ FZ LLC, a leadership development and management consulting company based in Dubai. Prior to AHRAMIZ, Hesham was the Vice President of Hospitality for Majid Al Futtaim Group, the Group Managing Director of Hospitality for Marka Holding PJSC, and the Chief Operating Officer for Kuwait Food Company (Americana) in UAE and the Country General Manager for Oman. Prior to moving to Dubai in 2008, Hesham held several leadership positions with YUM! Brands and ADF Companies in New York and the Mid-Atlantic Region in the United States for more than 15 years. Mr. Almekkawi holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Alexandria University in Egypt and EMBA from the Zicklin School of Business in New York, where he served afterward as an adjunct professor from 2003 to 2006, teaching service strategies and operations management. Among his credentials, Mr. Almekkawi is a Certified International Life Coach, NLP Practitioner and Certified Public Speaker, Mentor and Coach by John Maxwell and frequent guest speaker in regular international events for hospitality and retail.
