About the Book

CHALLENGES ARE MEANT TO STRENGTHEN YOU FOR A BETTER FUTURE AHEAD. A sixteen-year-old Dikeledi Mafifi predicts her bright future before taking a step ahead-her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant. A far-fetched dream for one who is from a family of nobody and a community where only so-and-so is somebody. So much happens in a short space of time-the sudden death of her mother and the arrest of her brother turn her life into misery. She now has to be a mother to her three-year-old sister and face an abusive alcoholic father who believes going to school is just a waste of time. Will Dikeledi give up on her dream?
About the Author: Thabang Modiba was born in the South African town of Polokwane in Limpopo Province, and grew up in Bochum, Uitkyk no 1, and in 1996 she moved to Schoongezight. Before becoming a full time fiction author in 2014, she worked at an Accounting firm as a Junior Accountant and Estate Agent Company as an Assistant Bookkeeper. She realized her passion for writing at the age of ten. "I used to write stories and hide them in my mother's book shelf and after a few weeks I'll take them out and read them as if they were not mine. Surprisingly, I'll find myself hooked by my own stories." Unfortunately as the years went by she concentrated a lot on school and work, neglecting her passion for writing, but you could never separate her with reading a good novel. In 2011 things turned around as she was reconciled with her passion for writing. "I was relaxed in my apartment when Patrick came in with a notepad and a pen; he gave them to me saying, 'I want you to write a book, the title is About The Girl.' From there I never looked back. I inhale and exhale writing." In February 2014 she published her first novel, About The Girl and she just finished her second novel, now busy with the third. She also wrote several short stories and planning to turn them into a collection.
