The journey from a life of poverty in South Korea to managing six business enterprises and three nonprofit organizations in the United States is one that cannot be traced on a map. But it can be found in the heart of the man still living it.
John Junghun Chang shares his struggles and successes on the long road to realizing his American Dream in the poignant and inspirational autobiography, Action Taker. More than a compelling narrative, Chang's story is a handbook for success in a world wrought with competition and seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
The book describes Chang's challenges as a Korean immigrant, when his company's US branch lays him off, leaving him jobless, with no way to provide for his wife and two children, in a country where he barely speaks the language. This period of working low-paying jobs to scrape together a living marks the beginning of his descent toward his life's lowest point, when he must give up or take action.
Today, Action Taker is Chang's nickname, and that is his message to the world. A fierce dedication to taking action can overcome any obstacle and set a person on the path toward turning dreams into realities.
About the Author: Born into a life of abject poverty in South Korea, John Junghun Chang's journey to prosperity began with studying business at Dongguk University, which led him to immigrate to America to work for the US branch of a Korean importing company that later laid him off.
After working a series of low-paying jobs, Chang dove into entrepreneurship by launching a small laundry shop in Reseda, California. Once the shop became profitable, he sold it and purchased Amko, a waste management and recycling company. Eventually, he transitioned into the clothing industry and took over one of the largest dyeing companies in the United States. Chang went on to simultaneously manage six business enterprises and three nonprofit organizations.
At seventy years old, Chang enjoys semiretirement serving as chairman for a banking enterprise and speaker for the next generations.
Through his inspirational autobiography, Chang hopes to demonstrate that anyone with strong desire and dedication can become an Action Taker, who makes dreams come true.
