Percy Bysshe Shelley y John Keats fueron, junto a Lord Byron, los más importantes poetas que el romanticismo británico dio al mundo. Sus vidas, llenas de puntos en común, justifican un abordaje en conjunto de sus obras, que, incomprendidas porigual en su época, en muchos aspectos resultan profundamente complementarias entre sí. La del primero es un exaltado grito de rebelión contra su propio tiempo; la del segundo, un retorno estético a la belleza de un pasado olvidado. Shelley intenta derribar a Dios; Keats nos propone a cambio el culto a las amables figuras del paganismo. Y quizás fue por todo eso que el primero mostró tan gran aprecio por la producción del otro y se dejó influenciar por ella. Había advertido, en esas obras arcaizantes y ferozmente vituperadas por la critica, que no estaba del todo solo en su cruzada contra su época, y así fue que, ante la intempestiva muerte de su joven colega, su respuesta fue la inmediata escritura, como despedida, canto fúnebre pero también como apología justiciera, del monumental 'Adonais', un poema que hermana para siempre a ambos autores en la misma lucha, y un poema que los hermana para siempre en una misma eternidad. El presente volumen nos ofrece una cuidada selección de algunas de las obras más representativas de ambos autores. Por el lado de Shelley encontramos, contando poemas y fragmentos, más de cincuenta títulos, entre los que se incluyen joyas como el 'Himno a la Belleza Intelectual', 'Ozymandias', la 'Oda al Viento Oeste', 'A una alondra', 'La nube', 'Epipsychidion', 'Adonais' y dos pasajes del drama lírico 'Prometeo desencadenado'.
