About the Book

Poetry. Inheriting its title from the British hunting term Tally Ho, AFTER THE FOX is a book propelled and inspired by the notion of perpetual chase. As collaborative authors, Sarah Suzor and Travis Cebula adopt the personas of Morning and Nocturnal. These two voices engage in and with every aspect that unites the binaries, as well as those that distinguish them as separate entities. AFTER THE FOX begins in Manhattan where Morning pries at Nocturnal questioning, Have you / forgotten me? What ensues is an epistolary conversation between the two characters that involves their history and their experiences in the city. Nocturnal writes: We grasped hands. We ran / so fast no one could have / told us apart or told us from / the moon. To which Morning replies: Dawn belongs to me. / Remember? That's the deal we made.
About the Author: Travis Cebula writes, edits, and teaches creative writing in Colorado. He graduated from the MFA program at Naropa University in 2009--the same year he founded Shadow Mountain Press, a small press that focuses on hand-made editions of poetry chapbooks. His poetry, stories, essays, reviews, and photography have appeared internationally in various print and online journals. The most recent of his chapbooks, ."..but for a brief interlude at Versailles," was released in 2011 by Highway 101 Press. Also in 2011, Western Michigan University, in cooperation with Charles University in Prague, awarded him the Pavel Srut Fellowship for Poetry. He is the author of four full-length collections of poetry, including "After the Fox" with Sarah Suzor.
Sarah Suzor's full-length collection of poetry, "The Principle Agent," won the 2010 Hudson Prize and was published by Black Lawrence Press in 2011. Her reviews and interviews can be found in "Tarpaulin Sky" and "Rain Taxi," and she has recently guest blogged for the Best American Poetry series. Suzor's poetry has been published widely, as well as anthologized, translated and nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She lives in Venice, California where she is a founding editor for Highway 101 Press, a correspondent for "Omnidawn"'s online magazine "OmniVerse," and a guest lecturer for the Left Bank Writers Retreat in Paris.
