About the Book

The book is an attempt to describe challenges to the continued existence of America and to give some indication of the things that must be done to support its continued survival. It includes numerous quotes and intents of the founding fathers and earlier philosophers. It describes how our government has deviated from the intents of the founding fathers and the Constitution that they wrote. It includes a copy of the U. S. Constitution for ready reference. A selection of historical events are portrayed and the reader is challenged to see if he is aware of the real history of his country. The book describes unconstitutional actions by all branches of government. It discusses the religious basis of the country and dangers that imperil its continued existence. The economy is discussed and revisions and constitutional amendments that will be a step in the right direction are suggested. It suggests a revised tax code and severe spending reductions and sumarizes proposed actions in a "Party Platform." The book suggest things that must be done if America is to survive and "secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." The author asks the reader to seriously consider what he hears and thinks he knows in determining what he believes.
About the Author: Hank Sims was raised on a farm in Missouri. He was educated his first eight years in a one-room school in Trimble. He is a product of the depression since his parents lived it. He was a witness to the race tensions and anti-war protests of the 60s and 70s. He lived with the tremendous explosion of technology. He has a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Engineering. He hated history in high school and only became fascinated with it later. Along with histories of the Civil War and WWII he has read numerous historical books and biographies. A major reading was Volumes 1 through 8 of Will Durant's THE STORY OF CIVILIZATION which provides a substantial basis. In researching for this book, he became aware of how out of touch with America that he had been in his working years. He was unaware of the high unemployment in the early 1980s because he was employed. He didn't realize the meaning behind Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America" because he was too busy. In observing today's current events, he came to realize how out of touch today's population and government officials are. When you recognize that some things are left out of history books and that you hear politicians state numbers as facts while other politicians use different numbers to describe the same event; you must begin to wonder what to believe. You begin to wonder what the information is that is used in making decisions and laws that impact all of us. If you distrust the information you ingest, how can you trust what you yourself believe? Candidates seeking office sometimes tell you what they will do if elected, but after the election, these promises seem to be overlooked (Close Guantonimo, read my lips, etc.) Herman Cain was a breath of fresh air when he responded to a query about a foreign policy issue. He said he would have to consult with his advisors and the intell reports. How often do candidates have a plan without advice and information? His objective with this book is to portray what he believes to be true and encourage others to be aware, to see the world as it is, and to have some humility as they determine what they really believe, so they will act for what is right.
