About the Book

This book relates the horrors and the heartbreak suffered by the farmers and their families as they watched their stock slaughtered and their world destroyed during the Foot & Mouth epedemic which swept the U.K. in 2001/02. The author was the only Slaughterman employed for the duration of the outbreak culling 43 farms and killing in excess of 3,000 animals. He was also the only Slaughterman to be employed at the U.K.s one operational burial site where he interred over 45,000 carcasses. You will read how the horrors of that year began slowly to cost him his sanity. You will read how the nightmares and flashbacks drove him slowly over the edge and resulted in him allmost loosing his marriage, his family, his friends and ultimately being driven to the verge of suicide. He was saved at the last minute by the intervention of a very famous lady who came to his aid in his darkest hour. Finally you will read how he at last got the help he needed to start him back on the road to partial recovery. The book contains very graphic and previously unseen photographs and discretion when viewing is advised.
