The North American P 51 Mustang, arguably the fighter plane that tipped the balance in US bombing raids over Berlin, was one of the more capable WWII dogfigters of WWII. The American Tuskeegee Airmen in particular, an all-African-American squadron, were extremely adept pilots who saved the lives and missions of many B 17 bomber pilots and crew.
