About the Book
Apitherapy is the Complementary and Alternative Medicine that promotes the use of bee products (honey, honeydew, mead, propolis, geopropolis, hive air, beeswax, honeycomb capping, pollen, bee bread, apitoxin or bee venom, drone larvae, royal jelly, and whole bees) for nutrition, enhancement of health and life quality, prevention and treatment of diseases, and for cosmetics. Apitherapy comprises, among its many procedures, the apitoxitherapy or bee venom therapy, and the apipuncture or acupuncture by beestings or apitoxin microinjections, massage with honey, propolis oil and apitoxin oil, use of stipers, inhalation, topical applications, suppositories, oral ingestion, injections, drops, and as a synergic coadjutant of food and prescription drugs. Clinical forms in this book include Informed Consents for Apitherapy, Notes, Progress Notes, Health History, Prescriptions Currently Taken, Evaluation, SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) Form, Maintenance log, Acupuncture Diagrams for use in Apitherapy, and others.The Apitherapy practitioner can use these forms directly on this book or to make multiple copies for use with patients. About the Author: Moisés Asís is a Cuban-American writer, scientist, lawyer, and social worker. He has written over fifteen books including essays and plays, and on subjects such as Apitherapy, Alternative Medicine, Hypnotherapy, Parapsychology, and Judaism, plus over a hundred articles in several languages, in addition to contributions to Encyclopedia of Cuba: People, History, Culture (editors Luis Martínez et al.) and to the story anthology Havana Noir and La Havane Noir (editor Achy Obejas), and to documentary films Havana Nagila: the Jews in Cuba (Laura Paull & Evan Garelle) and Cuban America (Adelin Gasana). His best known titles are Propóleo, el oro púrpura de las abejas; Investigaciones cubanas sobre propóleo; Los productos de la comena; Apiterapia 101 para todos; Apitherapy 101 A-Bee-Z handbook; Parapsicología e hipnosis experimental; Acupuntura y hatha yoga para las disfunciones sexuales; Hipnosis: teorías, métodos y técnicas (with Braulio M. Perigod), and Cuban Miami (with Robert M. Levine). Asis received degrees (BSc, JD, PhD, MSW) from Havana University, Open International University for Complementary Medicines, and Florida International University. In 1974, he received prizes of theatre in national literary contests by Havana University and by Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, and in 1991 one of his books received an award by Instituto Cubano del Libro and Cuba Academy of Sciences for authoring one of the best 10 scientific and technical books published in Cuba. Asís was an information analyst, professor, therapist, clinical social worker and investigator (API) in Havana and Miami. In 1993, he immigrated to the United States. He was a board member of the International Beehealth Research Association and of the American Apitherapy Society, a founder of Bees for Life - World Apitherapy Network and at his suggestion March 30 was designed as World Apitherapy Day.
