About the Author:

Joanna Brooks is a Chartered Psychologist and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Huddersfield with recognised expertise in qualitative research. She is known for her work on developing novel and inclusive approaches to research in applied settings - recently, a visual interview technique, Pictor, with Nigel King. She is author of numerous publications using and describing qualitative methods, including (with Nigel King) Template Analysis for Business and Management Students (Sage, 2016). Her primary research interests focus on health-related topics, especially in relation to networks of support. She is particularly interested in using participatory approaches in her work, and in exploring innovative and creative ways to support well-being in public health and community settings.

Nigel King is Professor in Applied Psychology and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Huddersfield, UK. He has a long-standing interest in the use of qualitative methods in real-world research. With a background in both organizational and health psychology, his research interests include profes¬sional identities and interprofessional relations in health and social care. He is author, with Christine Horrocks, of Interviews in Qualitative Research (Sage, 2010) and, with Neil Anderson, of Managing Innovation and Change: A Critical Guide for Organizations (Thomson Learning, 2002). Nigel is well-known for his work on Template Analysis and, more recently, the development of a visual interview technique known as 'Pictor'.
