About the Author: Jairo Grijalba Ruiz antropólogo y escritor colombiano nació en Popayán, en 1962. En el 2009 escribió el libro "Edy Martínez el hombre del piano". Es coautor del libro "Benny Moré Sin Fronteras", publicado en el 2013 por Ediciones Santo Bassilón de Medellín, cuyo desarrollo estuvo al cuidado del destacado investigador musical Sergio Santana Archbold, con la participación de reconocidos autores como la periodista venezolana Lil Delvalle Rodríguez y el respetado musicólogo habanero (residente en Puerto Rico) Cristóbal Díaz Ayala . También es coautor del libro "¡Fuera zapato viejo! Crónicas, retratos y entrevistas sobre la salsa en Bogota" (2014), editado por Mario Jursich Durán, con el apoyo de la alcaldía distrital a través de Idartes (Instituto Distrital de las Artes), y el Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio Cultural. Jairo Grijalba Ruiz escribe artículos sobre música popular para revistas de su país y del exterior tales como Melómanos Documentos de Cali, La Lira de Barranquilla, D'CubaJazz de La Habana, Herencia Latina de San Juan, Puerto Rico, Radio Gladys Palmera de Zaragoza (España) y Salsa Global de Bogotá. Por varias décadas ha estado ligado a procesos de difusión del jazz en Colombia. En el 2009 produjo y presentó su propio programa de televisión, "La hora del jazz". Desde 1978 se dedica a la radio como presentador de varios espacios musicales sobre jazz, blues y música latina, particularmente a través de Radio Unicauca, emisora universitaria de la región donde vive. Encontró en Lucy su esposa aquel eslabón perdido que necesitaba para completar su existencia, esa pequeña pero importante pieza del rompecabezas que todo antropólogo añora con nostalgia y anhela con ansiedad, quien le regaló un maravilloso ser llamado Ernesto, que es su principal motivador. Su madre Helena lo formó en el mundo de la música descubriendo en su niñez una temprana vocación por la investigación y la literatura, a través de viajes y aventuras por los ríos y esteros del litoral Pacífico colombiano, acercándolo al folclor y a los mitos y leyendas afrocolombianos. De su padre aprendió, disciplina, austeridad, y los secretos de una vida sobria y mesurada, fundamentada en valores universales como el trabajo y la dedicación. Una adolescencia marcada por la cercanía con las artes plásticas y el cine lo llevó a establecer contacto temprano con el fascinante mundo de los músicos colombianos, con quienes ha interactuado hombro a hombro por cuatro décadas.
