Apesar das suas rápidas taxas de implantação, apenas alguns poucos estudos, principalmente da tecnologia da informação (TI) e literatura de engenharia, foram dedicados a descobrir os factores que influenciam a difusão de novas tecnologias da informação e a sua correcta utilização dentro de uma organização. Do mesmo modo, estudos empíricos sobre o impacto da difusão das TIC e a sua utilização adequada nas organizações parecem limitados. O potencial da Internet para fornecer um canal eficiente para os esforços de publicidade e marketing é esmagador, mas ninguém está realmente seguro de como utilizá-la para estas actividades. Assim, este estudo é uma tentativa de preencher este vazio de investigação. Os resultados e análises mostram que as empresas em estudo utilizam as TIC no seu marketing, mas não maximizadas. O estudo revelou que a maioria das empresas tem um website funcional, mas que ainda não se conseguiu uma utilização mais avançada do website.
