About the Author: Jacob Stein is a partner with the law firm Aliant, LLP (previously with Klueger and Stein, LLP), in Los Angeles, California. Jacob focuses his practice on structuring international business transactions, complex U.S. and international tax planning, and asset protection planning. Jacob received his law degree from the University of South-ern California, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University. He has been accredited by the State Bar of California as a Certified Tax Law Specialist, is AV-rated (highest possible rating) by Martindale and has been named "A Super Lawyer" by the Los Angeles Magazine for the past seven years. Over the course of his career, Jacob has structured over three thousand asset protection transactions, and has represented of-ficers and directors of Fortune 500 companies; international Forbes 400 families; celebrities; Internet entrepreneurs; high-profile real estate developers, builders, and investors; physi-cians; wealthy foreigners doing business in the United States; small business owners; attorneys, accountants, and financial advisors; and many other individuals and businesses facing financial adversity or seeking privacy for their holdings. Jacob is an author of several books and over two dozen scholarly articles and technical manuals. He is the co-author of International Joint Ventures - A Concise Guide for Attorneys & Business Owners, published in 2014.
