Es entsteht der Eindruck, dass die theoretischen Konzepte für Gross- und Produktionsunternehmen geschrieben wurden. Das ist verwunderlich, bedenkt man, dass z. B. in der Schweiz zum einen weit über 95% der Unternehmen KMU sind und zum anderen in den letzten Jahrzehnten eine grosse Verlagerung vom zweiten in den dritten Wirtschaftssektor stattgefunden hat. Warum und wie sich die Strategie eines Dienstleistungs- von derjenigen eines Produktionsunternehmen unterscheidet und was das ganze mit der berühmten Katze im Sack zu tun hat, ist in der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit zu lesen. Zudem kann in der Arbeit nachgelesen werden, wie klassische Strategie-Ansätze mit der Engpasskonzentrierten Strategie (EKS), der Business Model Generation (BMG) und der Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) kombiniert und ein innovativer Strategieprozess mit allen relevanten Elementen situativ konfektioniert werden kann. Dazu werden im Rahmen der Arbeit neuartige Modelle und Konzepte entwickelt und im Detail erläutert. Nicht zuletzt wird die vielfältige Theorie bemüht und ein Blick über den Tellerrand des Strategischen Managements - nämlich ins Marketing, ins Dienstleistungs-Management sowie in die Akquisition - geworfen und in die entwickelten Konzepte integriert. Auf der Entdeckungsreise in die Tiefen der Strategie und angrenzenden Bereiche, kristallisiert sich heraus, dass der Schlüssel zum nachhaltigen Erfolg in der Spezialisierung liegt.
