Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Jura - Europarecht, Völkerrecht, Internationales Privatrecht, Note: 5.0 (5/6), Universität Zürich (Institut für Völkerrecht), Veranstaltung: Völkerrechtsseminar "Humanitäres Völkerrecht", Mai 2008 in Genf, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Zu Recht rühmen sich die Chinesen, in einer der ältesten ununterbrochen fortbestehenden Zivilisationen zu leben. 1952 wurden erstmals Überreste der der so genannten Yangshao-Kultur (Yǎngsháo wénhuà 仰韶文化) entdeckt, benannt nach einem Dorf in der Provinz Hénán (河南). Dabei könnte es sich sehr wohl um die Wiege der chinesischen Kultur handeln. Die neolithischen Menschen dieser Kultur bewohnten Terrassensiedlungen entlang von Flüssen, ernährten sich von Hirse und verfügten bereits über erstaunliche Fertigkeiten zur Herstel-lung von kunstvollen Töpfereien und Waffen. Obwohl man auch schon die Domestizierung von Hunden und Schweinen betrieb, so war die Schrift in diesem Zeitalter auch in der gleichzeitig existierenden Longshan-Kultur vorerst noch unbekannt. In der Longshan Kultur der Provinz Shandong verfügte man aber bereits über mit Wälle befestigte Behausungen. Zentrales identitätsstiftendes Medium einer jeden Kultur, und für die Geschichtsforschung natürlich zentral, ist eine Weitergabe von Informationen durch die Verwendung einer Schrift. Die chinesische Schrift hat sich im Verlauf der Jahrtausende im weltweiten Vergleich gesehen nur relativ gering verändert und eint auch heute noch die über 50 Minoritäten und rund 1.3 Milliarden Staatsbürger der Volksrepublik China. Sie hat des weiteren auch die heutigen Gebiete Korea, Vietnam und Japan nachhaltig beeinflusst. Die chinesische Kultur verfügt seit der erstmaligen Verwendung von Orakelknochen während der Shang-Dynastie (Shāngdài商代) über ein Schrifttum, das sich über etwa dreieinhalbtausend Jahre erstreckt.
