Länder - Zeitalter Weltkriege, Note: Sehr gut, Universität Hamburg (Institut für Geschichte), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In den Jahren nach dem Osteraufstand von 1916 fand in der republikanischen Bewegung Irlands ein Prozeß der Differenzierung statt, der 1925 in sein vorerst letztes Stadium trat. Erst mit der Gründung von Fianna Fail (FF) und der Absage der IRA an die politische Kontrolle durch die Sinn Féin kann die außerparlamentarische republikanische Bewegung wirklich abgegrenzt werden. Die Linke versuchte seit 1925, die IRA als republikanische Organisation durch die Zusammenarbeit mit sozialen Bewegungen, etwa in Zusammenhang mit der Landfrage, oder auch mit radikalen linken Gruppierungen, wie der Kommunistischen Partei, auf eine Politik der Volksfront festzulegen. Anknüpfend an die Gedanken des 1916 hingerichteten Arbeiterführers James Connolly versuchten sie, die Notwendigkeit deutlich zu machen, den Kampf um vollständige nationale Unabhängigkeit mit dem Kampf um soziale Gerechtigkeit zu verbinden. Diese Stoßrichtung, die Schaffung einer über die republikanischen Organisationen hinausreichenden antiimperialistischen und antifaschistischen Front, lag der Gründung von sowohl Saor Eire als auch des Republican Congress zugrunde. Dem Prozeß der Entstehung und Auflösung dieser beiden Organisationen galt mein Hauptinteresse bei dieser Arbeit. Nicht die militärische Aktivität der IRA, sondern ihr politischer Hintergrund, die Diskussion um die Einbettung des Konzeptes von der militärischen Befreiung Irlands in einen politischen Überbau, steht daher im Vordergrund. Die Geschichte des Republikanismus zwischen 1925 und 1969, dem Beginn der aktuellen Unruhen in Nordirland, kann als ein Prozeß zunehmender Isolierung beschrieben werden.
