About the Book

Back to the Alamo
Back to the Alamo is a journey for Remembrance of those who made a stand at the Alamo for the cause of Liberty.

Appearing in the condition of some ninety years before, the mission fort silently sat. Even so, within its compound, 186 intrepid souls remain fulfilling their duty of safeguarding the Liberty they died for. If there is one hope beyond their continuing service of protecting Freedom, it is that they would one day be remembered. No one had ever written about the gallant stand at the Alamo.

The memory of the defenders of the mission fort has been sorrowfully neglected. What is needed for them to be remembered is for someone to be drawn to the actual place and time to witness the history about to take place - and to inform the world of the valor that a small band of citizen soldiers displayed during the fight.

In Back to the Alamo, fate lends a hand in getting Martin, an old man whose clothes are dirty and tattered, to see Ralph Langley, a New York City literary agent. Initially, the telling of his story brings disbelief to the agent. However, he cannot deny the horrifying truth written within his uninvited guest's eyes.

His tale is about a 1928 silent movie crew arriving at a proposed location in a secluded part of southern Texas. He says that shortly after their arrival, they find the year is no longer March 1928 but March 1836. They had somehow arrived at the actual place and time where the battle was to take place.

Somehow, tragically we had forgotten the life-to-death struggle of the men of the Alamo. Martin said that as of 1928, the siege of the Alamo was a little-known sentence in the history books. As strange as it might sound, what he was saying was true. Just because we know so much about the Alamo today does not necessarily mean it was always so.

The transformation of knowledge can occur in the slightest moment known to us. In truth, entire volumes of books can be written and rewritten within the appearance and disappearance of a flash of a mere glitter of light. Finally, with the heroics of the men of the Alamo now safely recorded for all to cherish, the task was completed. However, the silent movie crew did not bring that knowledge to light. Someone else completed the task.
