About the Book

Master Baker, Autumn Flowers has just won the lotto jack pot. Although his bakery is successful, putting two kids through college has led to more than one refi over the years...so he can use the money. Unfortunately, after hiding the winning ticket, a tumble down the staircase turns Autumn's lucky day into: Autumn's lucky twenty minutes. But Autumn's untimely demise doesn't mean his story has ended.

Emily Flowers' reaction to the unexpected death of her husband (of 52 years) seems odd to her family. They were aware of her worsening memory issues, but under the circumstances, Emily's current happy-go-lucky persona suggests: something worse may be brewing. However, no one realizes: Emily is keeping a secret.

After the accident, aspiring film maker and grad student, Cory Flowers is bummed out for many reasons. Obviously, his grandfather's passing is a biggie, but on top of that, his new love interest lives 3000 miles away, his grandmother's memory is fading, the home she loves is going on the market (his mother's decision) and he's been delegated to be Grandma's temporary chaperone...again, Mom's decision. In Cory's words: "This sucks."

About 400 miles north of Autumn's home, Jamie Childress is elated when her boss (Victoria Flowers) assigns her the task of selling Autumn and Emily's house and bakery. The young and aggressive real estate exec has occasionally pushed ethical boundaries to achieve her goals, but she thinks this task should be a cinch. And it's an opportunity to schmooze with the boss' son Cory. When she arrives at the Flowers' shuttered bakery, Jamie has no idea what actually awaits. Her first encounter with an elderly baker is both shocking and contentious, but because she doesn't know who or what he is; future meetings become tempered by his cheerful attitude, fatherly advice and expert baking tips. Over time, the pair grows close and Autumn is able to free the softer side of this go-getter. But when Jamie inevitably realizes that she's befriended a ghost, she is forced to question her sanity and her future.

Baking with Autumn Flowers is a whimsical and humorous story that follows four people, with common worries and flaws, along an uncommon path to self-discovery and inner happiness. It's a not-so-scary ghost tale that's best read with a snack.
