Historia de amor, idealismo, coraje y traiciones maquiavélicas, contra el fondo del torbellino de finales del gobierno de Batista y los tres primeros años de Castro. Además de éstos, participan en la trama "Ché," y otros revolucionarios-como Matos y Cienfuegos-que resultan víctimas de ésta. La Revolución es un "personaje" importantísimo, haciendo de la obra un documental histórico que traza su trayectoria, mezclando personajes ficticios y reales que reflejan totalmente la realidad de lo ocurrido.

La trama incluye: el histórico ataque a Palacio durante Batista. Castro en La Sierra. Triunfo revolucionario. Ejecuciones en masa. Reformas: Agraria, Monetaria, y Urbana. Incautaciones de negocios, bancos, universidades, hogares. Nacimiento de Movimientos clandestinos. Invasión de Bahía de Cochinos. Papel del Presidente Kennedy.

La historia se materializa a través del diálogo y acción, en dramatizaciones concretas que muestran-sin proselitismo-el impacto de los cambios impuestos por las Reformas Revolucionarias en los ciudadanos y la nación.

Paralelamente se desarrolla la historia de amor de María y Alfredo. Alfredo, creyó en Castro y sus promesas de una Revolución justa, y se unió a éste en la Sierra, alcanzando el rango de comandante. Desencantado al ver la realidad, una vez que Castro se nombró Primer Ministro, destituyó al Presidente Urrutia, e implantó una férrea dictadura, Alfredo y María se unen nuevamente a la lucha clandestina, con el heroico Manolín-personaje real, figura heroica, Jefe de Inteligencia del Movimiento MRR-con el fin de liberar a Cuba.

Ante el fracaso de la Invasión, Alfredo decide matar a Castro. Hecho prisionero, es torturado para que delate la identidad de Manolín, pero resiste durante meses. Manolín es finalmente entregado por una infiltrada-hecho cierto-detenido, y fusilado.

Castro confronta a Alfredo en su mazmorra y durante un altercado, mata a Alfredo.

María-que tiene también un papel importante en la obra-y Alfredo, personajes ficticios, encarnan las motivaciones y sentimientos de miles de seres humanos que arriesgaron sus vidas por la causa libertaria.
About the Author: Yolanda Ortal Miranda, nacio en Encrucijada, Las Villas, Cuba. Graduada de la escuela de Filosofia y Letras de la Universidad de La Habana, continuo especializandose en Literatura Espanola e Hispanoamericana en State University of New York en Albany. Es Profesora Emerita de The College of Saint Rose, de Albany, NY, donde enseno literatura espanola e hispanoamericana y fue Jefa del Departamento de Lenguas hasta que decidio jubilarse para dedicarse enteramente a escribir. Fundo Cafe Teatro. Dirigio entre otras las tres tragedias de Garcia Lorca, y sus dos obras de teatro, Un punto que se pierde en la distancia, finalista del concurso Letras de Oro, de la Universidad de Miami, y una version teatral de Balada Sonambula. Su novela, En Noches Sin Luna, recibio primer premio en el concurso de la Asociacion de Criticos y Comentaristas de las Artes, de Miami. Su ensayo, El elemento del Tiempo en Alejo Carpentier, recibio segundo premio en el concurso del CEPI. Sus poemas, "Pisadas en el tiempo la angustia y la esperanza," fueron finalistas en el concurso de la ciudad de Barcelona y el del CEPI en New York. Sus cuentos, Madrugada y Al filo del silencio, y sus poemas, han sido publicados en revistas y antologias nacionales e internacionales, entre ellas Agora, Profils Poetiques, Torre Tavira, Norte, y EtCaetera, y en La Ultima Poesia Cubana, (Hispanova). Recientemente termino otras dos novelas, Cuando Lloran Los Delfines, e Imagenes. Ha viajado a Suramerica, Mejico, Espana, Europa y China. Ama la naturaleza ya sea en los valles del Yumuri y Vinales, o los bosques de Soroa en Cuba, el majestuoso Gran Canon, la costa del Pacifico y Alaska, en los Estados Unidos, los fiords de Noruega, o Guilin y el rio Li, en China. Ha sembrado arboles dondequiera que ha vivido: pinos en el noreste; magnolias, flamboyanes y palmas en La Florida."
