About the Book

"On The Balcony: Rapture and Ruptures" is a compilation of stories, essays, insights and articles that I've written over the past 25 years or so. It explores lessons learned and moments missed, about living, loving, work, play, holding on and letting go. It's about belonging and believing, uncertainty and doubt, family, spilled wine and profiteroles, good music, travel, conflict, thinking, loss, triumph, business, ecstasy, athletics and the unnoticed....all intersecting on the balcony, for the purpose of providing the reader with both stimulation and solace.
About the Author: Jerome Jewell has broken bread, worked, played and lost his way in more than twenty nations. He's climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, run the Marine Corps Marathon, swum the waters of the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Aegean Seas, earned an MBA from Columbia University, built a small consulting company and struggled with multiple languages. Along the way, he has tried to observe and learn from the people and situations that he's encountered. On The Balcony is a unique collection of stories and insights about lessons learned, based on these observations and experiences across multiple decades. Like Jerome, his book is a mixed bag, exploring a range of topics for readers who seek more than a "one book/one topic" approach. A native New Yorker, Jerome has also lived in Denver and now resides in Washington, DC. He spent much of his career working for industry leaders such as Chase Manhattan Bank, IBM, and the New York Times before founding Jewell Consulting Group in 1995, where he's now a trusted advisor to organizations across the globe. He's also taught at Howard University and he serves as a leadership coach to MBA and Executive MBA candidates at Columbia Business School. Jerome is an avid open water swimmer, a mediocre fly fisherman, and has always been drawn to good jazz and good stories. Through this book, he hopes to inspire readers to re-visit and share their own stories with the people who matter most in their lives.
