About the Book

All profits from this exquisitely illustrated storytelling triumph go to pet rescue --- Beauregard and the Blizzard is the true adventure tale of an extraordinary bond between child and pet, a thrilling demonstration of girl power, and the joy of enduring friendship.

Beauregard has everything a cat could want-a loving family, a comfortable home, and plenty of places to explore outside. With such a wonderful life, what could possibly go wrong?

Ten-year-old Sara loves Beauregard and treats him like a member of her family. She enjoys growing up in the suburbs of Washington, DC, playing with the other kids in the neighborhood and following Beauregard on outdoor adventures. Her daddy is an attorney and isn't home much, but Mama stays home and takes good care of Sara and her sisters.

Mama wants to raise her daughters to be smart, confident, and kind. She teaches them to think for themselves and always treat others with respect-even animals.

When a violent winter storm sweeps across the suburbs and traps Beauregard somewhere outside, Sara is desperate to find him before it's too late. She begs Mama to let her search for him, and Mama doesn't know what to do-is it too dangerous for Sara to wander out in the blowing snow? But what about everything she's taught Sara about treating Beauregard like family? And what will happen to him if Sara doesn't find him?

About the Author:

Maureen O'Rourke Woods is a dedicated advocate at her local animal shelter. She played an active role in securing county funding for the new shelter facility currently underway, and pledges all profits from Beauregard and the Blizzard to pet rescue. Woods is retired from a successful twenty-five-year career as a creative director and award-winning copywriter of health-care advertising and marketing. She holds an English degree from Furman University and a Master of Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. Woods and her husband are parents to three rescue pets: Tuxedo cats Scout and Leonardo, and American Eskimo/mix Shadow.

Children's book illustrator Penny Weber brings her sublime signature style to Beauregard and the Blizzard, capturing both the playful and perilous moments that make the book a sensational read.
