About the Author: Doctor Emilie van Wyk taught at primary and secondary schools for 25 years and was a school principal for 20 years. Emilie became a teacher in 1966. She later continued her studies at the University of South Africa while working full-time and obtained a BA (1985), HED (1987), B.Ed (1989) (honors degree in which she specialized in Gifted Child Education), M.Ed. (1996) and her D.Ed. in Education in 2001. She wrote her master's thesis on The Preschool Child and Their Literary Experience and completed her doctoral dissertation on Positive Discipline. She has attended many different courses to enrich her education and she is also fond of reading and researching different topics. Emilie and Gerhard have two happily married children: Charl, who is a neuro-radiologist and Nadine, who is a pediatric anesthesiologist. Both completed their fellowship at Harvard. The Van Wyks are a close-knit family and enjoy doing things together. They had a parent club for many years and have shared their knowledge on raising happy and capable children with many others. They are presently working for their non-profit organization to serve people in need in their respective fields of expertise. Emilie was inspired to write the beautiful life story of Doctor Gerhard van Wyk: Christ's Grace is Sufficient for Me. She was the editor of the book, Beautiful Women. She has also written the following books on parenting: Creative Parenting - If I could raise my children again; Physical Development of the Small Child; The Intellectual Development of the Small Child; Children's Essential Needs and Parents Challenges; The Moral Development of the Small Child; and Raising Your Gift.
