Therefore I've left some space after each poem for you to respond or react in writing to what I've written, which will leave you with a record of your own process. I hope, over time, you'll reread these poems as well as your previous reactions to them. Over time this may give you more insight into your own process of achieving self-love. It's common to compare ourselves to others instead of comparing ourselves to who we were the day before. I found that as I internalized the process of self-love I became less concerned with others' success and more interested in their process. "Please consider the possibility that you've never been jealous of anyone else's body or envious of the love in their heart. What if it was always your inaccessibility to your own container and contents that has eluded you? What if jealousy and envy of others is an emotional reaction to an unconscious experience happening within? "The tenth Commandment (not to covet) is an emotional prohibition against jealousy and envy. When you get past the last of the Ten you're ready to explore Jesus's additional Two. But you can't dismiss any of the others in your exuberance to love GOD and your neighbor as yourself. We live in a remarkable age when the gift of self-love is no longer looked at as weird or crazy. About the Author: Barry went to Israel in 2008 to marry himself at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, taking himself for better or worse, in sickness and in health, until death when he'd part. This was a miraculous marriage made in heaven since he began life as his own worst enemy. In his youth he took drugs, smoked and drank to excess. He tried to kill himself twice, first with pills and the second time by driving his car off a cliff. Twice he had to be involuntarily committed to mental institutions to protect him from himself. He had dozens of jobs including garbage collector, ballet dancer, bank teller and waiter. But after he got sober in 1984, he completed his formal education and became a public school English teacher. Later he became the president of his own market research company in San Francisco. He not only became an upstanding member of his community as an entrepreneur (and paid an inordinate amount in property and payroll taxes), he also became his own soulmate. In learning to express compassion and forgiveness for himself, he discovered he'd achieved the wisdom needed to offer inspiration to others.
