About the Book

"BEYOND BELIEF"... is the second novel in the series of six, based on the SUMMER ADVENTURES OF MAGGIE SUE AND TERRY D. BEYOND BELIEF takes six-year-old Terry D and eleven-year-old Maggie Sue back to Happy Valley, Mississippi, to spend their summer vacation with their grandmother, whom they lovingly call mama. Both were anxious to start their first day of adventures. The two children were so excited and had no idea, on that scorching summer day in the year of 1948, they would be facing death! The Cherokee-Indian-Spirit of their Grandfather Charlie had told them, it would be the best summer vacation ...ever! The two children heard the dreaded Potete brothers threaten Mr. Joe, "The Watermelon Man." Mr. Joe could die when Rufus Potete strings him up in the local cemetery. All are at risk as a dangerous tornado-like windstorm, with massive-lightning strikes and deafening thunder, threatens anything or anyone in its path. All are in peril from the sawed-off shotgun of Rufus Potete. Mr. Potete comes on the scene with his well-known bullwhip. Both are ready to do great harm. But...the Potetes are no match for Mr. Joe, Maggie Sue, Terry D, Dave, Bobby, and the faithful hounds belonging to the grandmother of Maggie Sue and Terry D. The... Great Indian Spirit of their Grandfather Charlie...deceased, is always with Maggie Sue and Terry D. The two children are aware they also have their Father in Heaven to guide them. They feel comfort in knowing they have two protectors at all times. On the first day of their summer vacation, without their protectors, dear friends, and pets, they would not be having another day of vacation now or ever. The finale brings Andrew Tracy Davis, Marine Sergeant brother of Maggie Sue and Terry D, to Happy Valley for a visit with his sister, brother, and grandmother. The reunion between...The Watermelon Man and Sergeant Davis is BEYOND BELIEF...!! WHAT A SURPRISE!! All does climax in an acceptable and happy manner for the young reader and family to enjoy. If the reader missed out on the first novel, based on THE SUMMER ADVENTURES OF MAGGIE SUE AND TERRY D. It is well worth the read! "THE GULLY"... was off limits to anyone or anything! But, on that rainy summer day in 1947, six children were willing to place their lives in danger for the love of a pet! The old timers warned over and over. Do not go into ...THE GULLY... or the lower ridge! In years past, hangings occurred on the high ridge above the montrous hole. Death would come; the rope would be cut, and the bodies would disappear into the belly of the gully! The six youngsters were aware of all the dreadful stories of the gully. Did they hesitate to enter the gully? Yes...but, their tomcat friend, Cat, needed their help. They were taught, one does not forsake a friend. Experience extreme love and bravery, among the youngsters, as you travel with them into...THE GULLY...!! Novels'... three through six...based on ...THE SUMMER ADVENTURES OF MAGGIE SUE AND TERRY D...coming in 2012 and each year there after. "THE UNFORGETTABLE PICNIC" is next! It is a picnic the reader would not want to attend!!
