Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Erster Weltkrieg, Weimarer Republik, Note: 1,7, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Erste Weltkrieg kann wohl mit einigem Recht als eine neue Art des Krieges bezeichnet werden, der alles bis dahin Dagewesene in den Schatten gestellt hat. Dieser Konflikt war nicht allein wegen neuen Waffen und den immensen Opferzahlen eine neue Art von militärischer Auseinandersetzung, sondern gerade deswegen, weil Krieg nun nicht mehr nur auf den Schlachtfeldern geführt wurde. Zum ersten Mal war von einer "Heimatfront" die Rede; das gesamte Volk hatte Anteil am Krieg und sollte zu dessen Erfolg beitragen. Aus diesem Grund nahm die Beeinflussung der eigenen Bevölkerung und auch der gegnerischen Soldaten durch gezielte Propaganda im Ersten Weltkrieg erstmalig einen entscheidenden Platz ein. Die Moral der eigenen Soldaten und Bevölkerung sollte gestärkt, die Gegner sollten demoralisiert und als Kriegstreiber dargestellt werden. Propaganda wurde von allen am Krieg beteiligten Ländern betrieben, unter Einsatz aller zur Verfügung stehenden Medien. Vor allem dem Plakat kam eine entscheidende Rolle in der Propaganda zu. Ein wichtiger Bestandteil von politischen Plakaten ist das Bild, weil es unmittelbar auf jeden Betrachter - egal ob Kind oder Erwachsener, Intellektueller oder Arbeiter - seine Wirkung entfalten kann. Die Fragestellung, der in dieser Arbeit nachgegangen werden soll, ist vor allem, ob die deutsche Plakatpropaganda für Kriegsanleihen erfolgreich war und mit welchen ikonographischen und textlichen Mitteln auf den Plakaten gearbeitet wurde. Die Frage nach dem Erfolg der Kriegsanleihepropaganda ist deshalb von Interesse, weil bei der Beurteilung der deutschen Propaganda diese bisher fast ausschließlich in ihrer Gesamtheit betrachtet wurde.
