Testimonio estremecedor de un escritor nacido (1949) en el seno de una familia de inmigrante francés con una campesina cubana y que se suma al proyecto de una sociedad enfocada a alcanzar la justicia social, la fraternidad y la igualdad. El adolescente se zambulló en el estudio de la Filosofía que luego descubrió que no era la autóctona nacional, sino la impuesta por la dependencia del país natal (Cuba) al sistema socialista encabezado e impuesto por la Unión Soviética. Relata el enfrentamiento del Departamento de Filosofía de la Universidad de La Habana, donde estudia, con la ideología estalinista tropical del Partido Comunista de Cuba que terminó por cerrar dicho Departamento de Filosofía y su revista Pensamiento Crítico (1971.) A la separación de la Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas donde militó desde 1963, siguió la inhabilitación como profesor de Filosofía en la Universidad de Oriente y la imposición de trabajos ajenos a la docencia. Graduado (1975) en la Licenciatura en Letras, logró evadir otro castigo que pretenden imponerle y comenzó a trabajar en del Centro Universidad de Holguín, donde volvió a ser expulsado (1980), al alegar su Rector que el biografiado incurrió en el delito de "diversionismo ideológico" en medio de la crisis migratoria del Mariel, debido a que su suegro cubano-americano vino a buscar a su familia para llevarla a Miami. Lo rescató de esta crisis el historiador Joel James (Guanabacoa, 1942-Santiago de Cuba, 2006) quien lo convirtió en fundador (1982) de la Casa del Caribe, institución científica donde trabajó como investigador hasta verse obligado a refugiarse (2005) en Venezuela ante el temor de que le impidieran salir de la Isla.
