By a rigid economy he was enabled to pun- chase a team for himself, which he continued to drive until 1755, when he entered the army, in: the expedition under the unfortunate General Braddock, iu what capacity is now unknown.—During this period he was charged by a British officer with contumacy towards him, for which he was tried, found guilty, and sentenced to receive 500 lashes, which was put in execution. Some time afterwards the officer discovered Morgan's innocence, begged his pardon, and obtained his forgiveness.
