Die bekannte Management-Trainerin Vera F. Birkenbihl hat dieses Mal kraftig hingelangt. In ihrem neuen Buch, das nach einigen kleineren Fingerubungen endlich wieder grundlegende Fragestellungen behandelt, liest sie den Fuhrungskraften und Bossen sauber die Leviten. Diese sollten nicht immer nur auf Controlling, Finanzquartalsberichte und Bilanzen starren, sondern endlich uber die menschlichen Dinge nachdenken und von Grund auf verstehen lernen, wie ihre Firmen ticken. Und sie sollten endlich mit den richtigen Methoden ihr wahres Potential zu Tage fordern. Schuld sind fur Birkenbihl die großen, anonymen Firmen, in denen anonyme Massenprodukte fur anonyme Massenkunden produziert wurden und anonyme Massenmanager das Geschaft verwalten. Leute, die alle zwei, drei Jahre zu einer anderen Firma wechseln, weil sie nur ihre personliche Karriere im Blick haben. Der dahinter liegende Manager sorgen zwar fur propere Gewinne, setzen aber gleichzeitig immer mehr Mitarbeiter vor die Tur. Der Holzweg! Gutes Management hingegen beginnt mit gutem Selbstmanagement. Also mit der Einschatzung, ob man uberhaupt fur den Job taugt. Dafur gibt es Methoden und Werkzeuge. Zum Beispiel das Management-Grid von Blake und Mouton, einer Methode zur Fremd- und Selbstbeurteilung. Wer nach diesem Test hohe soziale Kompetenzen mitbringt, ist in Managementpositionen bestens aufgehoben. Und nicht, weil er durch Vitamin B oder Aussitzen nach oben kommt. Die Kernkompetenz fur Manager ist der kunftige Umgang mit Wissen. Das Wissenszeitalter erfordert andere Schlusselqualifikationen und Fertigkeiten als bisher. Wir mussen, so Birkenbihl, standig lernen und lehren. Wir mussen uns mit lebenslangem Lernen befassen. Wir mussen aber auch endlich im Servicezeitalter ankommen, das heißt, die Einstellung zur Dienstleistung und zum Kunden hinterfragen. Viel Zeit dafur hat das Management fur Birkenbihl nicht mehr. Denn alle sechs Jahre verdoppelt die Menschheit ihr Wissen, und alle vier Jahre die Zahl der Menschen, die bewusster leben mochten.
