About the Book

Mark Dahle Portfolios can be read in a few minutes and then enjoyed for a lifetime. Thought-provoking and beautiful, they feature an unusual combination of compelling photographs, brilliant paintings and deceptively simple text.

This portfolio includes:

  • a photo of a beautiful abstract painting
  • twenty-six beautiful photographs from Freiburg, Germany
  • a story about the birth of Aesop

From the book:

At hundreds of deliveries she had said, "Keep pushing! Your baby's beautiful! Keep pushing!" But this time the words got stuck. "Keep pushing!" she said. "Your baby's -" and she couldn't say it. Aesop was not beautiful.

About the Author: Mark Dahle grew up in a town in Southeast Alaska where it rains 150 inches a year. After 18 years, he finally decided to dry out. Mark moved to Tacoma, a city with 110 less inches of rain a year, where he freelanced in writing, photography and layout design. Mark started painting in 1989. Since then, he has had five one-person shows: two in Chicago and one each in Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; and Escanaba, MI. Mark owned an art gallery in La Jolla, California for 2 1/2 years before moving his gallery to the web (www.MarkDahle.com). Mark currently lives in San Diego and is pastor of La Jolla Lutheran Church. His portfolios include stories for young children and adults (like When The Trolls Moved), stories for older kids and adults (like Fables About Aesop, Present Divestment, and Terminal Three) and commentaries for adults (like One Day's Encouragement). Mark has been falling down the coast most of his life, and he hopes he has the brakes on.
